While picking up a pile of salvage awning frames and such to play with at one of my swindle-tradin buddy's place I spotted this little tidbit sittin inna corner.. Fifty bucks later I'm the new owner. It's 36.5"x24.5"x1" thick (80ish#s) Al with all threaded holes 'cept for the ones in the middle. It ain't big enough for much but dang handy for a pile of the little things I wanna mess with I bet.. Guess a frame for mounting it is on the "short list" of projects to get done soon.. What kindof clamps are you guys using on stuff like this.?    d:^)  Schneeks.. Reply:that must of been a lot of work.......do they have CNC threaders???
Reply:You suck ! I'd love to have that. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for that very thing. I'd like to have one for a portable fab table. Thick and sturdy but yet reasonably light.
Reply:Listen , go ahead and send that thing to me because I'm about to point out to you it's no good. Look at the 10th hole from the bottom left. It's off abit so it's pure junk ! Lol
Reply:make a steel frame for it, make a nice modular table..a couple of sets of tie downs like you use in a mill, all you need is the studs, clamps, nuts and washers ...  cut some c-clamps in half at various lengths and weld some slotted plates on the bottom of them at various lengths also...  just dont tighten stuff down too tight so you dont pull the threads...   if you were to pull threads it would be easy to drill them out and helicoil them if they arent already inserted. get alot of stainless set screws and anti-sieze to plug the holes that your not using.. be a nice little setuptackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:I'm kindof curious what the purpose of that circle of bigger holes in the middle is for. 1awert1- I'm sure they swindle-traded for it much like I did.. Showdog- Keep up with me. Never know when I might decide I ain't using a thing enough. Then I'm always up for a little tradin' around..   Not sure what these go for, but I bet they ain't cheap.!! There's some missin paint on some of the holes that makes'em look catty-whumpus.. There's definitely  l'il funk goin on with the alignment on some of the holes, tho'. Not sure if it really matters. It just looks funny. Might have been a "second" or some such and that's how my buds ended up with it. brucer- Thanks.. I'm with ya on fillin the unused holes. Prolly wouldn't take much use to bugger'em up. I work with Al a lot. So I'm used to not gettin too happy with the torque.  Got any pics of those C clamp setups.? Ya kindof lost me on the description(not hard ta do).   d:^)  Schneeks..ESAB 161 LTSCommunicate & adapt, diggit.?ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Reply:Damn....I looked high and low for a big plate like that...ended up paying retail.  Mines got a bunch of 1/2"-13 holes so I can use my milling machine step clamps.  Don't know what threads you got but you might want to check these out....they're cheap.http://cgi.ebay.com/52-Pc-Clamping-K...ht_1922wt_1140 Attached ImagesMiller 211 w/ spool gunMiller Dynasty 200DXLongevity 60i IGBT plasmaO/A w/ crappy chinese torch/gaugesSouth Bend 10K latheGrizzly 4029 10x54 millGrizzly 7x12 hor bandsawangle grnders, bench grnder, bench belt sndr7.5 hp 80gal cmprsor
Reply:Looks like a bunch of 1/4-20's or 28's. Haven't checked the threads for real on the few screws that came with it. Been busy choppin the other stuff I got in the pile since I got home with it. Any idea what this plate's worth.?    d:^)  Schneeks..ESAB 161 LTSCommunicate & adapt, diggit.?ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
Reply:Are those through holes?  Instead of using the set screws to block and protect the holes, I might put screws up from the underside and then sand them flat on the top side.  This should protect the holes, give you a flat surface, and keep trash from collecting in the recessed hex on the set screws.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:Actually they're thru and countersunk. So I'm thinkin countersink screws from the top's gonna protect'em pretty good.. With some quality anti-seize to keep'em useful..   d:^)  Schneeks..ESAB 161 LTSCommunicate & adapt, diggit.?ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
