Lady friend of mine has a horse trailer, floor about 2 feet off the ground. She has a couple of bad knees and wanted a sturdy step with a 7" rise and 12" tread, to get up and down. Fab'd one up for her.Frame is 24" W x 24" L x 14" H. Made it with 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/8" angle, step braces are 1" x 1" x 1/8" angle, and the feet (for soft ground) are 2" x 1/8" bar, expanded metal is 3/4" x #9. The expanded metal is for muddy boots, better traction and lighter weight. Stick welded it with 3/32" 7014 and the expanded metal tacked with 5/32" 6013 (that thin stuff burns thru pretty easy).
Reply:Nice step
Reply:Very nice!
Reply:Best thing is that they are light enough for her to move around...only about 35 lbs. is my guess. Thanks for the comments.
