New Band Saw and Saw Stand

I've been on the hunt for a 7x12 band saw, I saw this Grizzly 6x10 on Craigslist, emailed the guy and bought it the next morning.The saw is in great shape, much better than most of the rusty dusty crap you find on Craigslist.Got it for a fair price,a little more than half the price of a new model. The guy was selling because he got a bigger saw,an Ellis saw that does 45 degree miters.I wanted a stand to make it easier to move the saw and to get the saw higher.I built a stand out of 2"x2" angle, 3" square tubing and some flat bar.I used 4 casters with crazy wheels to make it easier to roll around.Here's the saw in the stand.Net gain in height is about 8", much easier on the back.Close up of the stand.

Reply:How much did you pay? It looks as if you got the gear driven saw which twice the money of the belt driven.

Reply:I made some adjustments and tried some test cuts, I think the saw is a keeper!1" square tubingDSW,Getting the saw onto the stand wasn't too bad,the flat bar on the back of the stand unbolts .A half sheet of plywood and a stack of 2x4's make a nice ramp.I also got the guy next door to help push.Jay O,It's the G4030 gear drive, I paid $500 with an extra blade. Reply:Looks good. It's sad that manufactures wouldn't spend a little more money in material to increase height of equipment. It seems they make it inches too short. I hate bending over. It's the same with kitchen tables, the taller ones place food closer to mouth so you can shovel it in quicker and less chance of getting on your shirt.
