I am wondering what people with long hair generally do to protect their head? Do they make a welding cap that accomodates a pony tail? Also, I am putting my daughter's hair up in a pony tail so it is not dangling into her work and catching on fire. But the pony makes it hard for her to put on or remove her helmet. trying to figure out the best way to handle long hair when welding. Thanks in advance.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:Tie it back enough so it stays and put the hair under the jacket or coat if it's long enough. They do do rags that may also work in combination with putting the hair under the jacket..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:My daughter tucks her pony tail down the collar of the jacket and wears a skull cap under the hood. No problems.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member
Reply:Long hair is just bad business around welding or machinery! Both my girls have had long hair all theirs lives. My oldest daughter went snow skiing in high school. Going up the slope on a pull rope she didn't notice her hair was wrapping up in the rope. When she got to the top of the hill, and was suppose to let go of the rope, she couldn't! The rope dragged her over the hill, by the time they got the rope stopped she was hanging by her hair 20-feet off the ground! Reply:True, but I doubt he'll get his 9 year old daughter to cut her hair just to weld a bit with dad occasionally. I assume dads going to be there anyways, tucking her hair in and keeping it restrained with a do rag or scrunchie should be safe for the small amount of welding she's going to do..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Braid it and keep it under shirt. Or use multiple scrunchies and keep it under shirt.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:We picked up her own red polka dot welding cap at tractor supply this morning when we were picking up horseshoes. :-). I think with that and tucking her pony under the welding coat, she will be fine. Plus yes, I am keeping an eagle eye or two on her at all times.Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:My niece had a 2" square of hair yanked out just using a cordless drill. At least get her to tie it back or put it in a bun.
Reply:My wife said she would braid it which allowed it to lay flatter and she also wore a do-rag to help keep it back.M&R JohnsonMiller 180SDLincoln weld pak 180Hobart 250ciMill Lathe |
