quieting a air over hyhydraulic ram?

Reply:Hello wd40prerunner, I am not familiar with the particular set-up for the exhaust on that jack, does it have ports or a threaded outlet for the exhaust? As others have mentioned, a "muffler" on the exhaust will help to reduce some of the noise. If it has a threaded connection you should be able to plumb it to a cannister of some sort with fiberglass baffling or some other sort of muffling medium. If it has ports, you may be able to wrap these with some towels, batting, insulation, or other muffling medium and then tape this stuff in place. Get creative and see what you can come up with, those types of hydraulic/jack units work on a piston system and they do make a bit of noise as they are cycling.
