Reply:If you are only going to punch gauge plate sheets, then any hydraulic punch will more than meet your requirements. Depending on the hole sizes that you want to punch, a hand operated punch could meet your needs. You will need 5 tons to punch a 1/2" hole in 1/8" m/s, and slightly more for 10 ga. If you double the hole size, then you need to double the tonnage, or if you double the plate thickness then you need double the tonnage. You can also buy punch and die set ups for a shop press that would give you more versatility and use the same amount of shop space for a lot less $$
Reply:http://www.comeq.com/Geka/tonnage_chart.htmthe vast majority of used strippits are 30 ton, unless they are really really old, in which case you occasionaly run across a 15 ton.A 30 ton strippit will punch a 2 1/2" hole in 10 gage. |
