guys so the incoming class is all about certs and i been looking into a new helmet and the new miller digital infinity came out and i realy wanna get it but then im thinking about the cert material any adviceAngel
Reply:Man for that price I would settle for a better and cheaper hood. A few questions. What type of work and how frequently you Will be using it? Does it have to be that hood? How much is your cert plates? Thought the school covered any material for qualifications~1987 Lincoln Sa-200~~1978 Miller Big 40~ (restored) ~and everything inbetween~
Reply:hoods are like cars, you can buy a ferrari, but its still only as fast as the speed limit.it has to protect your face and neck from light. miller is really good at that, but you end up with the lens further away from your eyes. that can cause problemslook at the old timers, cant beat an old fibremetal pipeliner. i had to trim the bottom of mine to keep from hitting my chest, and then i had to add some leather to the bottom to keep from burning my neck. i own and have tried fancy hoods, but imo, simpler is betterLast edited by 92dlxman; 08-02-2015 at 01:53 AM.bosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin
Reply:I'd go with plate, get the job with certification and then buy the hood. I switched from an autodarkening hood to a pipeliner and that was best choice of my welding career so far, (although my experience is very limited).
Reply:The question is what kind of hood do you have now? If you have a decent one now, adding bells and whistles won't make you a better welder. |
