I posted in the Miller thread but only got 1 response out of 79 looks so I thought I would post it hear.My father has owned it since new and never used it (he never learned how to TIG) so he gave it to me and I have welded up a turbo intercooler and a gas tank with it (for a friend's chevelle) - that is the full extent of the use this has seen. a total of about 8 hoursdoesn't have a cooler on it but has the foot feed, lots of collets and diff. tungsten's.This thing still looks brand new.Is there even a market for something this old? Reply:There's probably someone who wants it. What it's actual value is I have no idea. The small tank is some what of a disadvantage. You probably won't get more than an hour or two's worth of weld with a small tank like that. Most guys would want an 80cf tank or larger, so they still need to get a tank or upgrade that one adding to their costs. If you want to sell it, go to the user CP and add your location. The weight of that machine means that in all probability a buyer would need to be local, or you'd have to be giving it away. Shipping would blow any savings over new.If the price had been right and it was local, I'd have looked at it when I was shoping for a tig. I'll bet if you asked $500 for it that machine would sell quick. At $1000 I'd have to look at what it all came with and add the upgrade for the bottle to see if it made sense..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Real nice machine there. And from the looks of it, it seems like its barely used and kept out of the elements. But just as DSW said, it would deffinately have to be someone local. I would try craigslist.com in your area and post it for sale. If it just comes with the pedal, and regulator and torch, I'd say it would be a bargain at $1000. Its one hell of a nice machine.
Reply:Whats your location?Also in another thread you say its a 94' model....here its a 96'?
Reply:Thanks for the replies - not looking to sell at the moment was just curious of the value.I do have a 80cf cyl. alsoMy dad and I used to build race cars and street rods years ago - he stuck with the miller MIG units - I liked the TIG stuff. I have a BIL that works for Airgas and could get a cooler , torch and running gear - guessing that would bump the value up considerably.Just thought I would post up here cuz he is so hard to get a hold of.btw - I am in the Twin cities, MNps - the model year changed from the Miller thread cuz after I read some posts relized it was an '96, owners manual said '94 on it - miller must have used the same manual for multi years.
Reply:Time to clean out the garage a little.Putting this unit up for saleI will post pics of all the extras: helmets, gloves, extra bottle(80 cf), tungstens, collets, ext cable this weekend.asking $1800 / obo ,prefer local buyerNice set up for someone just getting into the field.send me a PM, Thanks, TimPS, also have other stuff like oxy/acet. set up, small lincoln stick welderwill put pics on the forum this weekend.
Reply:Slim,Good luck on the $1,800 price. Not nearly worth that.Sold one just like it last year for $1,500 but had the meters installed, new air cooled torch, foot pedal, work lead, stinger, etc.New Sync 250 (power supply only) can be had on the internet for about $2,700 including shipping and with a 3 yr warranty.Anything over $1,200 for a 14 yr old machine, I'd think you should take it and run.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:You heading down near kentucky anytime soon?
Reply:There's about 50 tigs at my work. Those mechines are the ones we all fight over. Most consistant welds were bilt in the 90's. Dont even ask me why. They hold up the best also, lots of grinding dust at my work and we still have 12 of them.I burnt up 2 new syncowaves in one week in november, they all suck. If I was closer I wold buy it. they sell for around $3000 he in Oregon, well used.
Reply:SOLD!! for $1500thanks Chad. |
