Stick Welders AC Vs. DC ???

What are the pros and cons of AC vs. DC in stick welding ???

Reply:Yeah.......they do........just a thought.........you know.........always wanting to puntz with another machine!!!I don't like TIG the best........trying to get better at all processes of welding !!!

Reply:AC gets a bad rap.  As said earlier very good work can be done with the correct rods. I use it for the equipment I repair because the arc blow makes it difficult to weld on dc.Idealarc 250AC 225SVictor OA-older made in USA stuff.And a crap ton of other stuff.

Reply:I think every welder should learn on an AC welder so transitioning over to DC will be easy. Learning on DC is easy but transitioning over to AC isn't so easy.Nothing wrong with an AC welder, I've seen some outstanding welds with AC welders. Also, AC has some properties that work well welding magnetized metals and arc blow.
