Hi guys,I've been considering a new portable.  I've heard some good things about the Lincoln Ranger 10K.  Do you guys have any feedback?  I've also looked at the Miller 250 Portable but I don't see too many out there.  Any help is appreciated.Chris
Reply:I'm not familiar with the ranger10 however I do own a ranger8 that almost fulfills all my welding needs. Looking at getting a ranger 305 or a trailblazer 305. I have a few more questions to ask before spending more money though!
Reply:I've had the G7, the ranger predacessor for 18 years.  Still works.   I just bought a ranger 250.  What a difference.Ranger 10,000 is the "old shcool".  Its simpler, has taps for amp selection with a fine control.  It also has AC welding output that my 250 does not.  Both have CV output for a wire feed.  I think the Kohler motor beats the "robin subaru" (used to be Onan)   Just my opinion.Ranger 10 has no puter in it.  No chopper technology.  You decide if this is good or bad.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Well if you can afford it, the new Trailblazer 302 is a top-notch machine and Miller's customer support is the best there is.
Reply:My boss bought a ranger 10k for the shop. The millers make a bit less noise but the ranger isn't too loud. We picked it over a ranger gtx becuase of the fact that it didn't have much in the way of electronics. We didn't want to have to buy any high dollar boards in the future. There have been a few times that I wish that I would have had him buy something more but it does everything we need.

Reply:I would ask the OP how much welding he plans to do.  Because I would definitely upgrade either brand if it was something to base a business on or I was going to be welding a significant part of the time.  Welding with machines of the Miller Trailblazer class or Lincoln Ranger 305 is noticeable more enjoyable and expandable.
Reply:I guess it depends on what you will be useing it for. If you are going to use it around the shop/farm or ranch for midium grade work, then from what i know a 250 ranger or its equal250 Bobcat would be fine... I guess it depends on what youll be doing..check beack with me on your decision, id like to know what your decision was and why .thomas
