My Little Brother is into guns and asked me if I could make him a paperweight of something inside an Assault Rifle........Now.... I understand the mechanics of most rifles.... shotguns.... pistols...... but this particular piece I have never seen or felt the action of......He sent me two pics......The first pics was just a black and white rendition......The second Pic was at my request to see what the real piece looked like....Here is what I came up with as the paperweight he was looking for......I was aware of the offset "extractor" so I cut the pipe out and re-welded it about 1/8" off from the rest of the pipe.....Then I cut some 3/8" plate into 1/4" pieces and spaced them around the pipe..... needed 8 of them........All was without filler......... TIG welded using 1/16" Thoriated........ Minus the cutting on the bandsaw.... the job took 10 minutes to weld up......All from scrap......... painted flat black......Hopefully the kid brother I haven't seen in 14 years likes it.......PICS.......Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook......
