Sacramento area resources?

Hi, all... I'm a professional welder in the same way that Hulk Hogan is a dainty little ballerina - that is to say, he isn't... and I'm not. Soooo... as I probably won't be ordering any full truckloads of material anytime soon... I find myself wondering... can anybody recommend any good stores for getting small quantities of steel, aluminum, etc, in the Sacramento area? (or if the prices are really good, the SF bay area isn't that far of a drive)Are there any scrap yards around here that will sell to the public? How about any of you pro fabricators... got any scraps you'd like to have taken off your hands?I already know about Blue Collar Supply and S&K off of Florin-Perkins Road; and Metal Mart off of Pyrites in Rancho Cordova; anyplace else that anybody can recommend?Also, what's the best independent LWS in the area these days? Harris? (are there any other actual independents left in the area??? )Thanks -- Britt
Reply:I go to AllMetals in Oroville, although I'm sure there are plenty in Sac. It's probably 45 min from Sac.    All metals has a website, full shop for bending, cutting etc. they usually have a pretty decent scrap pile.

Reply:metal mart in rancho cordova.  Large amounts of remnants and 4 foot lengths.  Blue collar supply is staffed by a bunch of arrogant jerks.  Blue collar is on florin perkins.  Metal mart faces highway 50.  Exit on sunrise.
Reply:Ornamental iron supply or depot, a few hundred feet off florin perkins.  I think the street is Morrison Creek. No remnants.   20 foot lengths and other supplies.  They will chop stuff down to fit in a truck or car.  No band saws or shears just a cheap chop saw on the floor.  The prices are good.  Better prices than ABC.  You get to look at all the stock too.  I recommend them, especially if you want to feel different flat, tube, rod, etc to see how rigid something is.
Reply:Thanks. Found out something else yesterday... Harris Gas also sells steel, and will cut down a 20 ft stick to fit in the back of a car.
