Need to get some design ideas for a garage door lock assembly. This will be on the outside of the door. I am really looking for a type of shroud for the lock. The main plate1 will be on the door with through bolts to another bakcing plate3 but they will not be bolts. They will be studs welded where you cannont see them. The other plate2 will be on the side of the door and tabs on the door plate1 and plate2 will meet with a hole to put the lock. I am looking for a way to shrould the lock so that it is harder to get some tools in there to cut the lock. I am going with a pad lock, any suggestions.Thanks.T.J.www.tjsperformance.comDynasty 300 DXHTP 240HTP Microcut 380Hyperthem 85JD2 Hyd Bender and HF Hyd Ring Roller all in one =(Frankenbender)Bpt. Reply:I have had these on two buildings and a couple of cargo containers. What we made was a steel box (1/8" is plenty thick), open on the bottom for lock access, and with a slot in the back for the hasp loop to poke thru'. The box only has to be big enough to allow the padlock to swing thru' the hasp, and then rotate to lock.

Reply:Originally Posted by TJSDo you have a pic of this. So the box would be a seperate piece where it would have to put on and off with the lock. Thanks.
Reply:Use a shankless padlock. |
