Ok I got a new Precision TIG 225 about 6 months ago. The problem 1st started when I turned the unit on ac. The welder would go full plast no matter what power level I set it at. So since I was just practicing aluminum and I don't ever weld it I just turned it back to dc neg. I talked with my local welding company I get gas from and he said the machine was probably stuck in stick mode. Ok it sounds good to me. So a while goes by and I practice some aluminum and I have no problems. Then today I decided to do some aluminum wleding and its going full blast again? wtf? So then I turn it to dc pos and it pops the fuse. So I put in a new fuse and turn it to dc neg. It pops the fuse again...hummm. So I turn it to ac and it goes full blast but it doesnt blow the fuse. So I went through the manual and I don't see anything that helps me fix it. I checked the points. There at .020 - I blew out the machine - I cleaned out the torch and switched the ends. I unplugged and replugged the foot pedal and I still get the same thing.Any one else had this problem? Helpppppppppp
Reply:Hmmmm... That sounds to me like a control system problem, and it's still under warranty. I would take it to a Lincoln authorized repair shop and get it fixed.You could also contact Lincoln; the phone number is on the manual.I don't buy the "stuck in stick mode" thing. The only major difference between TIG and Stick modes is usually the high frequency and gas solenoid activation. Both are constant current (CC) applications, and both modes should be able to give you control of the amps.Good luck,Bob
Reply:Ya I brought it up to my wleding place and there going to have the repair guy look at it. I bet the problem was there from the start when I got it. I just didnt see it because I don't weld aluminum. Anyways I'll post a reply when the welder comes back and i find out what was wrong with it.
