First let me say these only run in the field not on the road so when they break it is not a safety factor just down time and lots of work.This has been removed so it can be repaired. This is the second one that has broken on this machine.there is four total. Here are some of the of the repairs . I did not think that just welding and plating would hold. There is a lot of shear on the tube and welded full circle so I put a shaft inside and welded the ends.
Reply:The for the other two on this machine we put shaft inside and welded the ends.Not my best welds on the two we did not remove but they only have to hold the shaft from coming out. I still expect them to crack the tube (3/8 wall by 3 1/2" outside) but am hoping they will not break the shaft and separate. They had nylon inserts on the caps and we had to remove them for welding this was the worst part .
