Info for pulse tig...

I've been pulled from the boat to help get the shop caught up lately, and there's a lot of 1/2" sockets and other connections to be welded. It's all pulse tig on stainless and copper nickel.The material is between 2.3-3mm thick. On the stainless I've been running at 70 amps with 1/16" 316L. The foreman told me to set the PPS at 1.8, Peak% between 20-30, and Background% at 50. It looks/feels very slow going and cold. I have to fight it to get this crap to fuse. What I started doing was turning up the Peak% to around 60 and it's a bit easier.Anyway.. since I've never done pulse before, is there any information you can give me about what these settings mean/do? And maybe some tips on a good place to start with them so I'm not just fiddling around without understanding it?
Reply:Something that normally is say 100 amps, if I use pulse I crank it up to 125 amps.  Just so it's not cold.But that as how I do it. Reply:I don't know what 1.8pps is going to do for you. Anything less than 100pps seems difficult to me. Reply:I'd be up around 90-100amp 40% peak 50% background with a 1/16 tung, gas lens and #8 cup if they want you to pulse that low.
