My bro in law wants to build a brew station . He is using 1/8 inch wall square steel tube. It is 1 1/2 inch square. Is this doable with a 110 mig?Miller diversion 165Miller mig 211Hypertherm pm 30Milwaukee 6230 14 inch chop sawMd 45 mag drill (RIP; fell on its head)New MD 45! Reply:With about a 140 amp machine. Yeah.Bubble gumTooth pixDuct tapeBlack glueGBMF hammerScrew gun --bad battery (see above)
Reply:With good prep, a 20 amp or better dedicated circuit with no extension cord and a 140 amp rated mig, he should be fine. This would be one project where you could do critical welds with a 110v mig. After all failure and spilled beer would be a tragedy of major proportions, so just be sure to do it right! .No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:It's about the perfect job for a 110 miggy, other than sheetmetal work
Reply:1/8 inch?It kind of depends on the man and machine.Make sure the machine is plugged in close to the panel, no extension cord, 20 amp circuit (12ga wire).A decent 90 amp DC machine like mine could do it with ease, grind a fillet grove, full power, short circuit transfer, CO2, 0.030 inch solid wire. I could do that all day.If using a machine like mine and 0.035 flux core wire you can burn through 1/8 inch if there is much of any gap in the pieces when using full power."110 volt mig" isnt much of a description.  Are you talking about the cheapest fcaw only HF unit known to man or something a little more advanced?old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder

Reply:He wont have any problem welding that with a little 110 mig, my lincoln 140 has no problem welding 1/8" steel when i have it set not on the highest amp settings.Hobart IronMan 230Hypertherm 45XP on a CNC table1.5HP 9x42 MillUNIBOR EQ35N Mag Drill
