I currently have a miller 210 and want to upgrade to either the Millermatic 252 or the Lincoln 255. I know it is mostly a personal preference since both machines are good but would like some input. I have enjoyed the Miller 210 but also enjoy my Lincoln Precision Tig 275 as well. Again both MFGs are good. Thanks
Reply:I was in the same spot last year.  The welding / repair shop I was dealing with said.  Go lincoln. Something about the boards are sealed and mounted vert. I guess miller boards lay flat and dust can cause them to short out.  He said they replace 5 millers to 1 lincoln board.  I don't know if this is ture or a sales pitch.  Anyway I bought the lincoln xt 255 dual tank with spool gun. Its been a year. I had to replace the switch in the gun   $ 10.00 no big deal.   I'm on 5 of 30# spool of wire and 3 of 1# alum.     I can't say anything bad about it but, I'm not overly impressed buy it. If possible, try them both, and go from there.Good luck DayePound to fit, paint to match
Reply:I'm really surprised to hear the 5-1 failure rate on the Miller vs the Lincoln.  Especially if it was in relation to the Miller 252.  Anyone else who does repairs on these machines have an opinion?Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma
Reply:show me the facts. if its 5 to 1 ill go red fact lincoln spoolguns are junk compaired to millerand the last two spools of wire ive bought from lincoln have been a pain in the but Attached Images
Reply:if they are going 5 to 1 then something is wrong in what they are doing.  Both are top shelf.  I would go with the miller due to the 210.  they share consumables.  If you had a 215 lincon, then I would go with the 255.  that simple.
Reply:Thanks for the input. I do favor the Miller maybe because I have been using the 210 for so long.I will have to see if one of the two local dealers in my area can meet the prices I am finding on line.No freight and no sales tax. Thanks again.
Reply:I have one of each in my shop. The miller welds great, but occasionally has feed issues. It's damn particular about the type of wire roll you put on it, ie plastic or metal. The Lincoln will take just about any roll you put on it. However, I have had to replace the gun already. It seems to be more sensitive to voltage fluctuations on the input side also. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.Miller Pro 30068 SA 20064 SAF 300305 G Lincoln gasserMiller 210
Reply:Thanks rp00, I guess it is like anything else, guns, cars etc. They all have their quirks and problems.
