Oxy/ace welding questions???

I haven't done this in about ten years since high school. Just got a setup and wanna practice some. How do these welds look and what is causing all the yellowish coloring around the welds??? Thanks Matt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:Yellow powdery coating is usually a sign that the piece was zinc coated. Zinc and welding don't play well together. Zinc gives off toxic fumes when heated like this.I'd either get some non zinc coated material to work on, or sand/grind the piece really well to remove the zinc coating 1st..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
