Hey everybody i just picked some new equipment and wanted to get some input from you guys. I just bought a new Miller 211 and a Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 42. Should i be pretty well set for home use iam doing a lot of everything from my drag car to meat smokers iam kind of a rookie but getting use to it fast. Has anyone else had these machines and if so how did they fare for you?
Reply:You got some high quality name brand stuff... I've used both, own Lincoln personally... but I don't think you should worry about having any trouble.
Reply:Both quality machines that will do anything you'll ever need to at home. As with all equipment it depends more on what's on the driving end rather than on the working end.Hopefully you didn't drain the piggy bank on these before you had all the "smaller" tools and equipment. Clamps, saws, layout tools, basic tools, etc. Now it's a matter of doing it. Cut and weld any piece of scrap steel you can find. If it works good, remember it and practice it. If it don't, find out why and try to never do that again. You'll find a wealth of help here and other places but it'll be easier to learn once you have specific questions or problems. So flip down the hood and start making sparks. Reply:Hey thanks fellas i had a miller 135 and quickly realized that i needed a larger unit, unfortunately you never realize how much you use or need a welder till you get one. At the time i had the other welder i also came across a TD plasma but also smaller severance was like 3/16 i got very frustrated one day and sold both of them. I was a welder at the frame plant in Dearborn Mi. and we used Delta welders and when you try to go home and use a 135 it just felt like a joke. So here iam 4 yrs later and decided to get a 211 i figured it was a good piece but don't anyone who has had one.According to Miller this model will weld 3/8 so i figured if i can weld 3/8 i should be able to cut 3/8 and with a little research the TD cutmaster 42 was priced right and they are both DV so that's nice but i also don't know anyone who has had one. Thanks for your advice and feedback.

Reply:How do you like the Cutmaster 42 so far? The LWS was singing its praises and even showed me it cutting a small sheet of 1/2 steel, slowly.
Reply:Hey Cory so far the thickest Ive cut is 1/4 and was drag and it responded without missing a beat for 955.00 i figured i couldn't beat it and its standing up to everything everyone said.
Reply:The MM211 will do 3/8" but only on 220v power. On 110v power it's not much more powerful than your old machine. Thats the down side of 110v input, the lack of output power. Everone I know who ha sthe 211 has been very pleased with it. It's a very good choice for a hobby machine..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
