I have an idea for a project and need a few scraps of steel to try it out. Willing to pay for what I need. Odd shapes up to 18-20", about 3-4" wide. I but a sheet from a local steel supplier if anyone can recommend a places that will cater to a hobbyist. Thanks,Ryan"I heard that!!"
Reply:Klein Steel in Rochester used to have a scrap bin that they would sell out of. I am pretty sure they have a facility in Buffalo.I'm not a welder, but I do sit next to one at the bar.
Reply:Another WNY'er , how bout them Bills and Sabres ? There's Alp Steel over on Exchange St, http://www.alpsteel.com/, never bought from them yet but was going to check their prices out this week. And then there's Stanley Steel, http://www.stanleysteel.com/, on William St, who I currently get my steel from, prices aren't bad and if you've ever seen the steel in Home Depot or an Ace around here that's where it comes from just marked up big time. There's also Upstate Steel on Dale Rd, http://www.upstatesteel.com/productline.php, just found out about them a few weeks ago thinking about checking them out too, never hurts to find a cheaper supplier. Hope it helps. |
