I've ran the SA 200 I got about 20 hours since I painted and cleaned it up. Now sometime's when I start it the green oil light is not on and it wont idle down. Other times it's fine. I have a oil pressure gauge i put on in front of the pressure switch and it's showing 30-40 lbs. Where the pressure switch was in the block I took it out and put a T there then off the top I ran my pressure gauge and put the factory switch in the other end. Does anyone know what this could be. In the pic you can see where I ran the copper line for the gauge. Is there any other place the line could be ran.

Reply:I suspect the oil pressure switch is just going bad, or you may have a bad connection in that circuit.Normally the switch controls power to the oil light, the idle system and the alternator. (you may find that the battery is not charging when the light is off)Cheers,Bob
Reply:Greetings, recently had almost the same problem with mine but my light stayed on. I took it to a mechanic and he put a new oil pressure gauge on it and it worked fine, then i had a problem with it not idleing down. Come to find out it was something linked to some wires going to the voltage regulator or atleast thats what he told me. Put a new one on and re-wired somethings and have no longer had that problem.

Reply:The switch is normally open and it has to have some pretty heavy duty contacts. If I recall correctly, contacts should close at about 6 or 8 PSI, and should be rated for about 8 amps. I'll try to remember to check on that.Bob |
