Can anyone coach me a bit about what kind of aluminum alloy will have the bending properties to allow something close to 90 degree bends with say a 8 - 10 inch radius? There would also be some welding involved and its been so long since I did any aluminum I'm not sure any more what rod to get.... I have a heli-arc setup, a squarewave with builtin Hifequency unit, so plenty of welder but maybe a little light in skill department far as `weldor' is concerned. My work has vastly been with various steels. And even then haven't picked up a heli-arc since I retired in 2000.
Reply:6061-T6 would bend well (if you have a bender that fully supports the square tube in the dies)on an 8-10" radius. It could also be done without a bender, but it wouldn't look as pretty.4043 is commonly used for 6XXX series aluminum.RexLast edited by rode2rouen; 06-03-2011 at 07:48 PM. |
