I just got back from purchasing a 54 short hood I think. That's the year he thought it was. I need to check the serial numbers tomorrow. The hood and doors are in great shape and I do mean GREAT shape. NO RUST at all. Everything is there besides the frost tube for carb. It runs and welds great. I found it on craigslist in columbus ohio. He was asking 850 and i got it for 500. I will get some pic's up tomorrow. I'm going to restore this one like the 86 model I just did.
Reply:First let me say this site Rocks. I know alot of you members were alot of help when I restored the 86 SA200 last month. Hoping you guys can help on this shorthood. Does anyone know where to get stainless armature covers for shorthoods. Also if they make other stainless parts for shorthoods. I seen one on ebay that had stainless armature covers and it was sharp. I would like to get any stainless or chrome parts for the shorthood that are available. I'm going to use braided lines and hoses. Going to try and restore this one like a classic car. I have some pic's of it and will upload them later. Thanks in advance
Reply:Wouldn't what you plan to do, be better termed customization rather than restoration?
Reply:here's some pic's. looking up the serial number it shows it is a 57 model which is fine with me. it's not pretty but it runs and welds perfect with only surface rust. Some of you may of seen my pic's here in the last month on the 86 model SA 200 i did. This one will be next. Attached Images
