Came across  an old Lincoln Idealarc 250 ac/dc seems to be in good condition the paint is good. Looks like someone took good care of it. Asking price is $100.00 what do you guys think.
Reply:If you mean the round-top machine that most of us call 'tombstone', has a lifting eye on top, you stumbled on the bargain of the decade, at least. Retail here is 500 to 600. Think maybe I'd buy it. weldersales
Reply:It should be worth that much easily. I  would try it out first to see if it operates, if so it would be a sure cinch to buy.
Reply:mines only a D/C unit but also paid $35 for it.
Reply:Thanks, I'am on my way to buy it first thing in the morning.TC

Reply:I used one like that 20 years ago only it was 400 amps. Boss said it was built during the depression and had been around so long there was no writing left on it, no numbers either. Wound up with it after I burned the brand new 400 amp Miller up for the second time (only took about 10 seconds the second time). Said he started the company with it, and as he walked away he said I wanna see you burn that sob up. Shop is under different ownership now and the last time I was in there just a few years ago it is still on the floor and used daily. You could see the leads jump when you struck an arc on that thing.I used to set the machine I built cattle guards with up for AC (magnetized sucker rods and drill pipe) and would roll on the floor every time a helper got sent out to use it. Most of them came off the pipeline and didn't know you could weld with ac.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
