Left home 4AM.  Headed NorthGreat start to the day at about sunup.  If you're ever going by Blackwell OK, stop at the Plainsman.  Best breakfast buffet on the planetAfter the first pickup, headed even further North.Quick fuel/iced tea/cookie break before the 3rd stop.  The pile is getting biggerAfter another stop on the way back down South, it's all sitting in the yard  Two days on the road, 4 stops, a bazillion gallons of gas, and one very expensive motel room  Near on a thousand mile round trip"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:This makes about 1800 miles on the trailer so far, and all seems to be fine.Someone wanted an update on tire wear.  It's doing very well.  No uneven wear, and no cupping.  At just under 2000 miles I believe I'm about 20% into the expected life cycle of the tires.  Trailer tires aren't noted for long life.  I would imagine these will go about 10k or so from what I understand.  Might be wrong, but I've looked at some industry literature on ST tires, and it ain't all that impressive.Adjustable tongue came in real handy.  The load on the flatbed truck squatted it a bit, and I was able to level everything up nicely by going down a notch. There are sufficient tied down points so far.  There can always be more, but so far...........okI generally use a piece of pipe for leverage when tightening boomers, and I'm satisfied with the full 3/16 stake pockets.  They take the strain very well with no problems bending etc.  Most factory built jobs come with 10ga pockets that are a bit lighter."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Another 500mi trip on Wed, and an 800mi trip scheduled for the week after Memorial Day.  Racking up the miles I guess."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:For S&G's I weighed the tongue before unloading.  It pegged the hydraulic scale at 1000lbsThis is going to be an ongoing problem using the 1 ton.  It doesn't give any indication of how much is on the tongue by watching the springs on the truck depress.  They simply don't move in any noticeable manner.  Especially after the weight on the truck bed has the springs down on the overloads.  Might want to take the tongue scale with me when running down the road. But, there's obviously enough capacity in the hitch and ball assembly to take the load so......................... (big shrug).  And enough capacity in the coupler so................. (another big shrug).  I suppose it's just a matter of common sense when loading the thing.  Anyways, this stuff had to be loaded in the manner it was loaded, considering the dimensions, obstructions, etc.  Flatbeds are always a major PITA"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Glad to hear the trailers doing fine. "I never doubted it one bit" You do some nice work. I go through Blackwell Oklahoma a lot on my trips to Arkansas. I'll have to stop by the restaurant. Chad

Reply:Nice haul Samm. I just noticed something about your truck though, you need to add some boxes under the bed for storage. Reply:I have learned with my heavy sprung flatbeds that its easier to tape measure the front wheel gap than it is rear spring sag.   Tape the distance that the front wheel arch grows above the tire  static  empty vs loadedVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.

Reply:Maybe not Chad, but that trailer of yours has a serious sag forward of the wheels. It's obviously got some serious issues even if you think it's safe..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
