Eastwood Hits New Low

Ordered a 135 Mig welder from Eastwood on May 1, June 1st still haven't seen it.  They can't furnish a tracking number for the last week because of 'technical issues".  There has been but 1 response after me contacting them after the 1st 20 days and the whole processs has been a nightmare.   Latest word from Ebay is wait another 7 days, escalate and wait for 7 more until Paypal sends my money back.  Not what I expected from a large company and a Power Seller.  Oh, yes and they have had my funds which were taken out of my account since 9th of May.

Reply:Nothing with that specific listing. Too good to be true is buying something cheap and hoping/expecting it to be as good as the more expensive machines. Reply:Update:  Come home from work today and found my welder sitting on my back doorstep.   Bill of lading Fedex shipped 05-27-11. Eastwood telephone rep statement, goods shipped 05-20-11. (I had originally purchase on 01--05-2011)  To think I had a Lincoln mig lined up and missed it by a day beforehand.Learned my lesson:  buy off the internet if prepared to give it 4-6 weeks for shipping.   If not and more dependably, shop local at bricks and mortar.

Reply:I've bought stuff from Eastwood and haven't had an issue.  One issue they have with the welders is they sell out and seem to be frequently back ordered.  If they have it in stock it usually comes pretty quickly.  As for ordering from the Web, places like Indiana Oxygen or Welder Source and they ship quick and have good prices.  Just gotta research what you are getting and where you are getting it.

Usually weld quality drops off as soon as the duty cycle is exceeded. Most hobiests can't tell the difference between what the weld looks like when the welder is running properly and when the duty cycle has been exceeded.

Reply:Buying off the internet dosn't mean that shipping will take 4 weeks. Its how the company handles it. Buy from a reputable company. Use Indiana Oxygen for example. I bought my 211 from them on a sunday and it was at my door on wendsday. Next time you buy online do some research on the company and its history.Ya gotta spend money to make money!

Reply:...Postscript:  Used welder on 3 separate occasions, used maybe 20 feet of wire, on June 19th (this last Saturday) it was no-go, click click when trigger pressed, nothing at the roller or tip.Refund/return process now, yippee.    Nothing against the company, always liked the features on the welder and the price point was good, just think quality control or lack of needs to be addressed.  Charge a bit more if you need to, but get it right.   Be tacking things with the 15 year old 110 campbell stick welder, works.     Who said that, which is so true, 3 things you don't skimp on in life: parachutes, condoms and welders.
