how much would this be worth and would it be something to fix up .  sae 300 serial # D23156 40 volts I think the engine and welding drum are 1938.

Reply:What memories I started out in 1960 working on flatheads,  very tough motors.  Flatheads and my welding started about the same time,  seen flatheads power irrigation pumps,  big gear driven wenches,  all sorts of stuff.   Last one was in a 29 coupe,  LaSalle trans Columbia rear end, Headman Headers, Mercury distributer, Edlebrock heads and 3 Stromberg 97 manifold.  Boxed frame by me   Sorry to rant on just a old man dreaming of the past  Clifton
Reply:around here that flathead is worth big money.....If it runs,,,,,800 to 1000....
Reply:I can remember running flatheads in the 60s on dirt tracks and giving many power plants a fit. Reply:In 1963 I got my first car, a 1952 Ford with a Flathead V8.  I worked at an auto parts house, and I sent so much time and money on the car that Flathead became my nickname.
Reply:My memories of the Ford flat head,  I also owned a '52 Ford with the v8 flat head engine, the thing would blow head gaskets left and right.  Two big water pumps and still ran hot!  Sure had a pretty sound with dual exhausts though.  Just an old man with youthful memories.   Bob
