So a little back story.... 2010 I went back to college and took Welding Techniques, and unfortunately I couldn't afford to do any CWB testing as my wife was also back in school. To say that money was tight would have been a gross understatement! So last year when the company that I was working for sold the buildings where I worked I decided to take the layoff and continue my education. Unfortunately I couldn't get into the Welding Fabrication Course (second year of Welding Techniques) It was full this year and wasn't running when I took Welding Techniques. So I went back and took Mechanical Techniques. This course included Fluid Power, Electrical Fundimentals, Machine Maint.m Machine Tools Welding etc... So......Here are the results of my flat stick bend test. 3/8" Plate 60deg bevel and 90deg side, 1/4" Backer, Lincoln 375, 1/8" 7018, 135 amps, 2 stop starts.Sorry no pictures while testing! The top 2 are the root and the bottom is the face.RootRootFacePassed with zero issues! So now I am CWB certified! Thanks for looking!Last edited by LarryWannamaker; 04-19-2014 at 04:28 AM.
Reply:You only tested for one position? If you want to be much more valuable, you need to be certified in all 4 positions.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:Due to a full course load, time didn't allow for practicing out of position! It's not like taking welding in night school where all that is concentrated on is welding and nothing else, no projects, etc.
Reply:It's a good feeling to get a welding ticket. But if you look at the view from a potential employer, who will they hire, the guy who's certified to weld flat and horizontal positions or the guy who's certified in flat, horizontal, vertical up and overhead positions.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
