This might not qualify as a welding project.  Each hold 5 lbs of filler rod.
Reply:Nice.  I'm doing the same thing except I'm using gray conduit tubing instead of white PVC because it was about 20% cheaper.    Also I'm making the "caps" on mine removable a little over half-way the length of the tube, so that I can find the shorter pieces of filler rod after I thrown them back in. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:But your missing the .045, .035, and 1/8" for all of those. And what about the 309 rod. You cannot go without 309 rod. Lol. I'm actually doing this exact thing tomorrow. Bought a 10' stick of pvc a fee weeks ago and caps to go with it.Sent from my SGH-T999L using Tapatalk
Reply:I just finished this exact project, I found a link on how to make these and he used a compression spring in the tube with a non threaded PVC cap upside down over the spring so when you uncap it the rod comes out(easier to get at). The only thing I did different is instead of cutting the tubing at 34.5 inches I cut the pipe at 35.5 this way I didn't have to push so hard or risk deforming my 1/16 filler rods besides that though it works great. I found it on a vwvortex.com, just google spring loaded filler rod holder and he explains how to make it. Sorry, don't know how to put the link up.stevePs- Attached ImagesLast edited by Basicwelder54; 06-09-2014 at 08:42 PM.
Reply:I just use the boxes it came in......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I made some of those many years ago for brazing and A/O rod I carried on my truck. No corrosion or rust at all.
Reply:These aren't quite as sexy as some of the others pictured here but the same general idea.
Reply:Made 12 holders similar to the one’s in post #7.  You need to test run with YOUR fittings!!!  I ended up cutting mine at 35.75”.  The compression springs need to be stiff, 4 lbs. for the steel filler tubes the other tubes can utilize lighter compression springs, i.e. 1-3 lbs.  Still not finished with the mounting but satisfied with the results.Everlast PowerPro 256, Everlast W300 Cooler, Everlast Cart 250Millermatic 211, Spoolgun 100, Miller HD CartJackson W60 Truesight Digital Auto Darkening, Victor 315 Torch sitting on a Harper 830-86 cart
Reply:I made a couple and cut the tube down enough so the ends of the rods stick out an inch or so.
