Hello all,I hope this is not considered taboo here. I have been slowly but surely going through my stuff and selling off what I don't need. Its not that I don't want the stuff, but the economy being what it is, I have to keep what I need, not necessarily what I want.Selling off a Colt .22 to .45 conversion kit for the 1911 Colt. .45 pistol. I have had this thing for 40 years! It has to go. I bought it used back then and I doubt I have put over 500 rounds through it in all that time. It mainly sat in my utility room waiting to be used. For those that don't know what this is. It is a .22 caliber adapter to allow you to shoot .22 caliber rim fire long rifle ammo through any colt 1911 .45 pistol. Its main feature aside from saving money when practicing is that it duplicates the feel of the larger caliber rounds. It will also fit the old Colt Super .38 to boot!As you can see, the manual got oiled up on me and it has some writing on it from the original owner, but it is very readable. I will also include a Colt user guide and maintenance manual with it.$350 and its yours. I don't know if they still make these but I have seen them going for $500 used so I think this is a good price.I am open to offers so don't be shy. Figure shipping will be around $6.00 using a flat rate box from the post office to any part of the country. Attached ImagesLast edited by therrera; 01-01-2011 at 02:54 AM.
Reply:do you have the red purplish box it goes in ? 913 952 7743 i dunno if its taboo or not either but hit me up tomorrow sometime
Reply:For that money you could just buy another gun.Tim Beeker.
Reply:I sort of assumed this section was for welding-related things, but since I don't run the show, who am I to say? I have heard of these being used for punching sheet metal, so maybe that qualifies. These conversions are still being made and I believe there are small differences in versions, depending on the version of the gun they go on. The original Colt one was called the ACE; does your slide or paperwork mention this anywhere? I don't think that name just referred to the whole firearm with the .22 parts fitted, but could be wrong.
Reply:If I had 350 to spare i would jump on it. I have quite a few of these including those from - Kimber, Ciener, AA, Marvel, Clark, and a couple of 1 offs. The Colt is valuable because its a Colt. I see these on some of the gun auction sites go between 300-400 well used for just the top end, no mag no papers.Excellent condition adds a premium - Box adds a premium - paper work adds a premium (reduced with oil stains)FYI: the the Colt ACE was initially sold as a complete pistol with the conversion being sold separately without the ace badging the uppers were later marked with the Ace designation and later still were marked only as Colts .22 conversion etc.++FYI: For the mods site owners etc. the conversion alone is NOT an NFA regulated item and in no way falls under the BATFE jurisprudence. Complete firearms however are on pub forums (found this out the hard way on my one and only attempt at creating a forum).therrera::: if for whatever reason you have trouble moving it here or the site says verbotten to cover their tails - PM me for a list of reputable sites.
Reply:Thanks for the replies and info. I lost the box about 20 years ago. There is no mention of ACE anywhere in the paperwork or on the slide. The picture doesn't show it but the bluing is in good to excellent shape. If you don't mind, I would like a list of sites where I could post this item as well. Thanks,Tony

Reply:These things always come up at the wrong times. Good luck on the sale. I've been hem hawing about getting a .22 conversion for years now. Already got a .22 pistol. Whoever up there said you could buy another gun, well, yes, you can. But it is nice to train cheap on the same platform you carry. And I'm concurring with SRO1911 and Expat, this is not a Fed regulated part. It is an upper and is not a serialized as a "firearm" like frames/receivers are. It may be legally sent through the mail private citizen to private citizen; no FFL or government interference needed.Last edited by Monica; 01-02-2011 at 10:41 AM.Lincoln AC225 and CartLincoln WeldPak HD and CartOne hand
