Reply:I've been largely silent on these type threads...but ya; know guys...You are the ones being laughed at all the way to the bank by our many pro customers. Laughed at by pros who must have more work and less time than you do, apparently. I get calls all the time telling me how much they appreciate the alternative we offer and how surprised they are about much misinformation is turned out by ignorance and hatred. Despite what spammers do here, and things beyond our control, you are the ones that are our best advertisers by constantly dredging up and responding negatively to threads like this. Telling people they are junk, when you have no experience or support to make the claim, and isolating a few posts here or there of problems and constantly reciting them, when there are multitudes more "problem" posts on other name brand units just make people suspicious of your own statements.Last edited by lugweld; 01-13-2011 at 10:49 AM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:lugweld:I don't think that people would have a problem with [Insert Brand X Product] if the quality was CONSISTENT. There are many people who are fans of Harbor Freight because they know what quality to expect from them. With other brands and/or distributors, there are some people who are very happy with the product and some who are very disappointed. If (almost) everyone was either one or the other, there would be a consensus that the product was under, appropriately, or over priced.Until the manufacturer can produce a consistent product, they need to make up for it with outstanding service. Building a reputation is difficult and the established brands have spent a great sum of money making sure that their product is thought of well. While I am skeptical, I look forward to the presence of company representatives on this forum if they are used to:-Increase customer service-Listen to product feedback and respond promptly and professionally-Make adjustments to their product offering based on that feedbackAnyone that operates a business knows that you can't make everyone happy all the time. However, I know that I look to how a company responds to their detractors as a sign of how they will treat their customers. To that end, I would love to see [Brand X] post a series of YouTube videos showing their product testing and quality control in addition to demonstrations. This would allow further critique of their product and allow them to make improvements accordingly.Edit: A perfect example of a company treating their customers in an awesome fashion is Jim Colt. The fact that he is here and answers questions gives renews my faith in the human race.Last edited by Fegenbush; 01-13-2011 at 11:08 AM.
Reply:The specific Craiglist post is part of ongoing SPAM nationwide, so decide if your buying decisions should support SPAM.When you see one of these generic Craiglist adverts, Google it to see where else, often MANY places else, it turns up:A LMGTFY example:http://tinyurl.com/49wtkcmDon't like SPAM on your message boards, don't support SPAM on Craigslist or anywhere else.Don't forget to FLAG spam on Craigslist so they can get rid of it. I make sure to advise all my friends to punish spam by NEVER buying products advertised that way. I want companies who pollute the internet by supporting spam to go out of business. They can choose not to support vendors who spam. They can choose to tell prospective customers not to buy from vendors who spam and go elsewhere to get the same product, but I don't see that happening.Astroturf:Astroturfing is a common way to promote products by linking to them on message boards. It is deceptive, so it gets called out.Last edited by farmall; 01-13-2011 at 11:14 AM.

Reply:Craigslist spam is infamous and very well-known on the internet. That's why the "flag" options are on the right side of each listing! Google "craigslist spam" and the term gets over six million hits. Also, the internet custom of "lurking" before posting on a board to learn its customs is a known standard. Without very active monitoring, a previously good board can be rendered useless by content pollution. Everyone younger than about fifty has had many years to learn all this.Extremely old people or those living under rocks are excused. |
