I was welding last night when the wire quit feeding. I open the door and notice the wheel was spining, so I thought the wire was stuck somewhere in the gun or cable. I reached up and grabed the wire and it bunt my finger tips pretty bad. What happen was the wire would get cherry red from the wheel to the spool when you pulled the trigger. I measure 50vdc from the wheel to the positive terminal. I'm thinking the bridge ( one of the doides) is out or possibly the board ( trigger circuit for the SCR). Has this happen to anyone else.
Reply:Thats cause you probably probably "birdnested" at some point and didn't remove all the wire, you've got a piece still in there touching the frame. OR your gun cable conduit has pulled out of one of the ends of the gun. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE MACHINE PLEASE!You guys always think the worst has happened, never is!Last edited by Cruizer; 07-31-2008 at 10:42 AM.
Reply:make sure a piece of the welding wire isnt touching the case on the inside and grounding out. i have had them do that at work if the tip burns back and you have the tension to tight it will birdnest at the wheels and push up and tough the case and ground out. |
