You guys that have made gazillions of fence braces using that 2 7/8" oil pipe, how do you square everything up for welding? That stuff is heavy and hard to handle and stabilize. If I had an order for, say, 30 of them, I'm not sure how I would do it.Last edited by Ruark; 09-24-2015 at 09:21 PM.-RuarkLincoln 3200HDHobart Stickmate LX235TWECO Fabricator 211i
Reply:Years ago I had made a jig out of 2" angle iron. Made it with the point making contact with table I was welding on. Just cut the cross brace, or braces, saddle, place in jig, tack, and finish weld all pieces. Saves a lot of time. I'll look around tomorrow and see if I still have it.

Reply:The one I made can go on floor as well. I just have a large table in center of my shop and use it so I'm not on floor. I've used it with pipe stands too. |
