Lincoln 180 Drive problem

Okay, let me start off by saying I'm kind of electrically stupid but I'm willing to bust out the multimeter and investigate before sending my machine off this thursday to be fixed.My problem, no drive...  I've pulled the wire completely out of the machine, That's not the problem!!!The drive roller does not spin.When you pull the trigger on the gun it makes the normal click sound but nothing.  If you actually grab the roller while you pull the trigger you can feel it jerk almost like it's jammed up but wants to go.  Makes me think it's a mechanical issue and not electrical but I could be wrong for sure.I did do a search and found this on someone's 125 that sounds really similar that I'm going to try looking into tonight.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ln+drive+stuckAny other ideas of info?  Does anyone have a link to a schematic on this unit by chance?Thanks,Khris

Reply:Do the rollers turn with no wire in them.  I assume you have the guide block assembled, if so then you may have pinched the wire in the Al guide.  Try it without the quide block.  Just release the tension, then see what happens when you pull the trigger.Last edited by tapwelder; 08-11-2008 at 02:11 PM.
Reply:No they do not turn with no wire in them.  I pulled all the wire out of the liner and the spool is completely out of the unit.  Put it this way, I can pull the roller off the shaft and the shaft doesn't spin.I'll check the guide for the schematic tonight.  Thanks...
Reply:Do the rollers turn with a piece of mig wire in the machine trigger terminals?If so you have the torch trigger wires shorted to the internal copper conduit. Very Common fault...
