My welder is 7 years old and not even a spool of wire gone through it. When I pull the triger it welds fine for 7 or 8 seconds and quits feeding wire, I let go and pull the trige again and it welds again for 7 or 8 seconds and quits. I can do this all day long. The wire is still hot just no wire feed. Is there an easy or inexpensive fix for this problem and if I caused the problem what did I do so I wont do it again?
Reply:First off I would replace your contact tip, then possibly your liner.  Are the feed rollers still rolling, or do they stop as well?I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:The feed rollers stop each time. Thats the only problem. It's like a short in the drive motor I just dont want to think that. It still arcs before I let go of the trigger the drive motor just quits turning.Last edited by Tinbender; 08-31-2008 at 11:32 AM.
Reply:I would like to thank the people who tried to help me I would also like to thank the people who tried to help me and that there messages just dfissappeared???? from my post. It made it very difficult for me to understand the way some of this forum conducts its buisiness. I thought I was moving forward in my progress but I can't follow the thoughts of people who do not allow me to be a part (a member)of something I thought was interesting and could answer my problems and issues that I and other people in this world have. Maybe I just dont understand the way this forum works! I had 3 maybe 4 replies to my problem and now they are no longer there, only one. why are the other replies not there anymore? Anyway thanks to Sberry, arcackle and especially Hammack_Welding witch is the only post reply I have left who began answering my post With some really good advise. I had hoped for more imput but I am thankfull for what I recieved. I guess most questions are asked and answered in a paticular way I'm just trying to fix my welder!
Reply:Tinbender, I'm not sure what is going on, but there is something screwy with the site lately.  If the drive rolers are stopping, and the you have a good tip, and liner then I am not sure what it could be.  Perhaps the drive motor is going out.  I would recommend having a Lincoln service center take a look at it.  They should be able to diagnose it quickly.  Good luck.I just had a thought...........  Check the set screw that holds the feed roller on the motor shaft.  I guess it is possible that the screw could be loose and allowing the shaft to slip and not turn the roller.  May not be any help, but I would take a look at it.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
