It looks like most TIG processes that require DC run DCSP.  Is there ever a reason to run DCRP on TIG?
Reply:All the books will tell you no. I would never expect to see a qualified WPS using DCEP. Having said all that, I have used low amp DCEP (15-25) with 1/8" tungsten to do non-critical repairs to thin gauge aluminum. All I had was an AC/DC constant current power source and no high frequency unit.
Reply:I could have sworn I saw something about thick aluminum and DCRP.But I don't know. I've never had to and never seen a WPS for gtaw and electrode positive.
Reply:Thanks for your help!

Reply:I have qualified (Sect. IX, ASME B&PVC DCEN with helium to weld thick 1/4" -1/2" aluminum with a machine set up using cold wire feeder and the company I worked for had an old qualified WPS for DCEN manually welding the same  thickness range.
