hi all, just registered here.i've been using stick and mig for years, but finally taking the step into tig, since i need to start welding thin stuff in my motorcycle projects (and other).i found this lincoln 131 tig machine. it is on a cart, has kempi gun, and is beeing used by a professional (which is broke). he spent a lot of time explaining to me how the kempi cable and the gun (nozzle) makes it a superiour machine. also something about a high frequency icnition.has somebody here tried it and can reccomend it. the asking price is abut 1/4 of the price of the cheepest miller tig here iceland.cheers,kf

Reply:There might be a Lincoln product that isn't any good, but I have never seen or heard of one. I've never used that particular machine, but everything Lincoln I have used has been first class. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:thanks for the replies,i tested it, and after some discussion, i bought it, and a migatronic mic, a plasma cutter, small aircompressor, lot of accessories for all of the tools, including bottles. all for less 3/4 of the price of the cheapest miller tig rig here in iceland.my metal shop is up to a good start.

Reply:hi all, sorry for the delay, but the deal became a bit more complex. i ended up buying the plasma and the tig and the mig, but the guy who sold it to me, then got a big job where he needed the tools, so i allowed him to rent the stuff from me. then when i got the stuff back from him, i sold the mig so i more or less got the tig and the plasma free.but here are some picsi mounted both on the tig trolley. the lincoln 131 and the hyperterm the cable and the gun is a kempi, an can be tvisted and turned and here are my first test welds. not good but then again not so bad. i've never tig welded before, but did a fair bit of torch welding and stickthis is 5mm stainless, no fillerthis is 5mm stainless, with fillerand here is a standard 3/8 pipemy upcoming projects will be frame making for a motorcycle, perhaps a t-bar for the bike too. i'm also planning on creating some horseshoe candle sticks for christmas presents. any ideas for some?cheers from iceland,kf |
