Reply:Just plug and play John, you don't need a control cable to run this feeder, it has an internal contactor and gas solenoid that is taken care of by it's internal electronics. Simply set the machine to CV output and the correct polarity for the selected wire, adjust the voltage to the neighborhood of where the wire manufacturer suggests, adjust the wire speed to get a good steady burn, hook-up gas(if required by a particular wire and the correct type), set the flow, and go to welding. The lead should be hot to the feeder, but don't worry about that because the LN-25 has an internal contactor to provide current to the wire when the trigger is pulled. So in other words, it will not arc-out against anything unless you have the trigger pulled. Good luck and best regards, AllanP.S. I should add that the LN has a toggle to select polarity, be sure to set this correctly according to what is required of the particular wire that you are using and it also has a switch inside that selects CV or CC current input. CV will yield the best performance when welding with most any type of wire, the CC option is for use with engine drive machines that don't have CV output and are only capable of CC current.Last edited by aevald; 05-21-2014 at 01:28 PM.aevald
Reply:Last year I got a buddy of mine set up with an LN-25 to run on his 305G. What surprised me is how fast his machine would jump to high RPM from idle when you struck an arc. His 305G sure has a great arc for Mig welding, and gasless flux core. Reply:Thanks,Good to know. Can you guys give me an estimate on what that Ln-25 is worth???What should I offer them for it???Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Originally Posted by MinnesotaDaveThe short answer is: more than you want to pay, but less than they want to get. When I need a general price range I check ebay and look at the sold listings to see what people paid.Otherwise, I look at the new price, cut it in half, then adjust for condition if needed.
Reply:I've seen prices from the $450-700 range and up. Your location may skew the pricing some. Some guys are willing to pay a lot more for an LN 25 Lincoln vs another VS type feeder like an older Hobart Hefty or Miller Super S 32P, or the prices may be in the same $450-700 range like the others. Reply:Sorry to lie to you guys, but this Ln-25 was on eBay.Didn't want to show you guys the link, in case one of you guys would see it, and bid. But,I just won the auction.I'll get it to AK for $590 total. Thanks for all the comments.~Johnhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/331204405393...84.m1423.l2649Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Yeah you did good on that unit, I was just busting your balls. With the cheap LN-25's you have to watch that they include the contactor and the gas valve. Looking at the back of the 1st pict you posted. Looks like the gas connection at the top, so I'd bet it also has the contactor installed..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Good deal on your ln25.  I picked mine up last Sunday from a old welder friend of mine for 400. And it's own cart.  Hope you enjoy it.  I really like mine.  I'm running mine off my miller bobcat 225 Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkMiller Bobcat 255Hobart 190 and spoolgunLincoln AC 225Lincoln LN-25Rock and Roll hoochie coo
Reply:Yours might be a little better deal, because of the bottle.Mine is in good shape, with the right gun I needed, and set-up for .045.I'll let you guys know when it comes in, and show ya'll how it works.Should be a week or so...~JohnJust a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Do you plan on running gasless flux core wire? If so I've been using Lincoln's K-126 guns for close to 40-years now. I understand the Miller and the new Lincoln guns have replaceable liners. We use to stop a little early on Friday nights, remove the guns from the feeders, and place the end that goes into the feeder on an oxygen bottle without the gauge and blow them out. Reply:The bottle is mine but the ln I got came with just the cart and gun and the ln itself.  Very smooth unit.   What would you guys recommend for a good gun and liner combo that's 15ft and good for flux core and solid wire? .35 Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkMiller Bobcat 255Hobart 190 and spoolgunLincoln AC 225Lincoln LN-25Rock and Roll hoochie coo
Reply:I don't know if anybody make a combination gun. Anyway I don't think you want to run Innershield through a gun that later you will run hard wire through. Innershield has a real heavy graphite lube on the wire, which might contaminate a Mig weld.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:Number 2 Tweco gun would be my first choice. I have a gas nozzle I cut off just below the insulator to protect my diffuser threads when I run flux core.

Reply:Righto,That's what I've got.If I want to run .045 Innershield 211, I'll want a different liner???Not a big deal, liners are less than $10.Thanks,~JohnJust a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:The .045” NR-211 might work in a Mig gun. Any bigger and I'd say no! I tried to run 5/64-inch NR-211 in a Tweco model 4 gun years ago. It would run for a minute or two then the wire would freeze up in the liner when the wire got hot. With the size power source you have you may not have enough amps to go up to 1/16” or .068” wire. So give the .045” NR-211 a try, if it works in your Mig gun you'll be money ahead just buying a liner for Innershield wire. If it doesn't work you'll need a gasless flux core gun, like the K-126.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400I have no reason to go over .045, being I'm not welding over probably 1/2inch. Gonna be doing lots of 6in drill pipe, building fence this summer.I'll probably buy .045 Innershield 211, being I'll be doing it in the wind. Can you run it downhill??Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:I've run lots 10lbs of .035 Innershieled 211  on a 90amp flux-cored welder quite a bit.Welding a bunch of light galvinized pipe downhill. Can you run the big wire downhill on 6in pipe?? Lots of coped saddle joints too.Or is it just as good to go uphill???Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Here's the other two I passed on, to buy the one I bought. The newer one $900, with the k126 gun, was set-up for 3/32 wire. And the older one was a shady seller.I didn't want to buy that old of machine....http://www.ebay.com/itm/171331012021...84.m1423.l2649http://www.ebay.com/itm/171325627146...84.m1423.l2649Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:@ AK - IRT to run'n FCAW-S downhill......refer to para 7. under the "Welding Processes" sub-heading of http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...pe-detail.aspx.  Certain the pipe pros here will chime in with a reality-check of the literature and give you some feedback."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:Lincoln says both of these wires are good for vertical down hill welding. Only for the hot pass, fill, and cap. Must not be very good for the root pass! http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...pipeliner.aspxDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
