It's not a welding machine but I am tickled pink with it!! It will increase my lathe production three fold over the manuls machines that I now have.Larry Attached ImagesMiller XMT 304 CC/CVSyncrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255XTTermalDynamics 52Lincoln 305GComlpete machine shop to back it up

Reply:Oh man!That's a serious investment!Very nice.
Reply:What made you choose the "hybrid" machine over a full cnc? Other than price that is.Last edited by MrLeadMan; 06-15-2011 at 04:17 PM.Ranger 250 GXTSmith Gas Axe
Reply:looks great, we had a webb toolroom/prototrak lathe at the place i used to work yrs ago, handy machines for sure.... can you program it?  what design software are you going to use with it?  i'm not familiar with a haas controller, all i've used is fanuc and yasnac and hurco..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:MrLeadMan,I do a lot of proto type parts and repair work and I like the tool room style lathe. The HAAS control is good for conversational programing or full G code. It has the same control as thier full blown turning centers.Brucer,I do most of the programing on the machine using the intuitive option the control offers. If I need more elaborate programs I will use BobCad/Cam.LarryMiller XMT 304 CC/CVSyncrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255XTTermalDynamics 52Lincoln 305GComlpete machine shop to back it up
Reply:A shop I used to work for had some haas machines but I never got to run any of them. Everything I ran was full G code. I can see the toolroom machine being very handy for complex parts, hope it serves you well.Ranger 250 GXTSmith Gas Axe
Reply:I'd like to know what you think of that back splash.  Is it tall enough?  I've already got an oil stripe on the wall behind my Jet and was thinking about extending the height of the back splash similar to what you've got.My name's not Jim....
Reply:Boostinjdm,The back splash is great on this machine, it is the front gaurd that sucks. These TL style lathes from HAAS make a mess if you don't add some coolant shielding of your own. What I did on my manual machines was to bolt a sheet of 1/4" lexan to the back splash, problem solved on those.LarryMiller XMT 304 CC/CVSyncrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255XTTermalDynamics 52Lincoln 305GComlpete machine shop to back it up

Reply:forhire,I hear you! this is not my first run with cnc, I have ran a few differen types of cnc lathes and mills and currently have an Atrum 10X50 knee mill with a centroid cnc controller on it. I claim that is why I am loosing my hair, as the old saying goes, junk in junk out!LarryMiller XMT 304 CC/CVSyncrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255XTTermalDynamics 52Lincoln 305GComlpete machine shop to back it up

For the past couple weeks I've been working with Alibre CAM and drip feeding the control using gtkterm in ubuntu. I sent it a 2.6 meg file on Monday A few months ago I actually got the thing to thread mill... which was a feat.I also have a Mori Seiki Duraturn 2550 with a 12 tool turret... when I first put in the lathe I couldn't imagine running parts that required more than one or two tools. Now I load out the turret and wish I had bought live tooling in addition.
