I have an old Speedglas XL and have yet to figure it out. I'm not sure if it's fully functional. It has an auto and man mode, but the lens does not seem to respond at all when adjusted to auto. I haven't welded with this thing yet, so perhaps it'll respond in auto mode then. Furthermore, when scrolling through the various shades, the lens darkens progressively from 9 through 10-11, becomes brighter at 11-12 (i.e., no darkening), and darkens slightly when set to 13. Has anyone experienced issues such as these, and does it indicate the lens is past its useful life or defective? Thanks for the help! Attached Images
Reply:Does it take batteries? If so, you could try replacing those. Turn the sensitivity all the way up, then point the lens at the sun and see if it darkens. On all my helmets, if the sensitivity is all the way up, they'll darken just by looking at a light.John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker |
