First I will start off by saying that I definitely need the machine to stick weld but will be doing plenty of dc Tig welding with it too.  I'd like an AC/DC machine to give me the ability for aluminum without upgrading to another machine.. I'm debating on the following machines.  Miller Syncrowave  200 or 210, Lincoln precision tig 185 or 225, Squarewave 175, ESAB Heliarc 281i, Caddy tig 2200i T34. I would be looking for any of these machines used or if I could find a good deal with a new one I would pick one up. Any thoughts on one machine over the other?Miller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:Sync 210 is one sexy inverter, dual voltage, memory card tig/stick welder. Takes the same accesories as the Dynasty series.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:i have a syncrowave 200 at work so i have been getting more accustom to that machine everyday. But i really like my ESAB mig welder that i have at my farm. i just have so many different machines that i have been looking at its hard to make a solid decision. lolMiller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:What power do you have available to feed the machine?Would make a huge difference on an inverter vs a tranny machine.  If you have the space and power (like 80 amps of 240V) I personally think that a 1990-1995 Syncrowave 250 is the ultimate used welder.  Square wave, 310 amp output, very limited electronics to break, adjustable EN/EP to a degree.  And it will weld like the 200 you use at work. If you have less power, then go inverter.  That ESAB 281i looks great.  Tweco/TA is also coming out with an updated 300 AC/DC machine as well.  I had a Dynasty 200 and now a TA Arcmaster 300 and I love it.

Reply:I'm a MILLER machine guy with a 180SD . When it dies if it does, I'll go for the MILLER 210. WELDERMIKE a member here has a post on it. Send him a PM and hell set you straight no bull$hit. He might even be happy to here from you considering he's out of commission with a fckkd up foot. He could be crabby too.
Reply:I have gone trough countless of posts on here just reading and taking everything in.  I've noticed that the precision TIG 185 has a board that goes bad after a while. So I've ruled out that machine. I was talking to a contractor I know here at work today.  He has a Lincoln dialarc 250 ac/dc that he bought in 2012 and a Lincoln Tig module for it.  Would this be something that would work for me? He wants $3000 for the both.Miller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:I think you mean the contractor has a Lincoln Idealarc (not dailarc)... correct? Not sure about prices but new machines are $2500 and the tig module is $2000+Does it come with a cylinder, tig torch, leads, etc?
Reply:yes you are correct Idealarc. Everything but the tank. i don't mind picking up another cylinderMiller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:No way I'd pay $3000 for that.  Keep an eye on CL and a good deal will come up.  You just gotta wait.  I bought my cream puff Syncro 250 from the original owner for $1600.  At $3000, you're nearing the price of a new Dynasty 200.  You've got a ton of options with that budget.  Consider the HTP 221 as well.  A lot of features and great customer service.  Price in your ballpark.  People love it and I've never heard a bad comment on the machine.
Reply:Kinda steering away from Miller.  My syncro 200's Hf isn't working now.Miller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:I can only get an arc to start by using a lift tig method.  My pedal will work as it should once I have an arc but getting the arc is the problem. This is true with 3/32 and 1/16 as I tried both in multiple amps within both of their range.  .Miller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:You know that there are actually points on that machine for HF that may need adjustment.NEVER steer away from Miller.  The only reason to ever avoid would be price tag if you don't necessarily need as tough of a machine as they make.  I have a bunch of TA machines because of the price alone.
Reply:You get what you pay for. I dont mind spending money if I'll get my money's worth out of it and mainly if it makes me happy. I'll take alook in the book and try tweeking some parametersMiller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:So after reading up on everything I've narrowed it down to the  Milleer 200/210  and ESAB caddy tig and 281i heliarc. Being that ill be using it to stick weld a good amount doing repairs on our farm which would weld 6011 and 6013 rod the best? I know the syncrowave 200 at work does it with no problem at all. I'm just getting tired of using my old Forney C-5.Miller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30

Reply:I found out what was wrong with my syncrowave 250. My spark gaps were sat at .021. Adjusted them down to .008 as per the manual and it's welding great again. Looking at specs of the 210. It seems that the syncro 200 will stick ac and dc whereas the 210 will only do dc stick. Am I reading that right?Miller Syncrowave 200Esab Migmaster 275Miller Millermatic 210Forney C-5Hypertherm Powermax 30
