I've got a couple of jobs coming up where I'll be joining some stainless pipe, 2-4" ID. I've got a short backcap for my tig torch and intend to weld both inside and outside, but need something to keep the side opposite the one I'm welding from coming in contact with atmosphere and bubbling up.I see that Arc-Zone has a bit of variety of tapes and I need some input from someone who has done this before...Water soluble? Adhesive free? Whats the best option for what I'm doing? If it matters I don't think I have full access to inside and outside and will be welding on the bench. Welds are being done <1.5" from pipe end, they are being fitted with a tri-clamp fitting on the end, I am fairly sure if I had to I could just wire-wrap the exterior of the pipe where the two pieces are getting welded over the tape, or stuff the interior and bend up some tig rod to hold it in place.
