Neighbor asked me to build a simple railing. This is what I came up with.Video if the build if you are so inclined:The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:Very nice! One thing I strive for with such things is to make it look as though it has always been there; to which you have succeeded.

Reply:How much space is between each baluster? At each end I'd block the opening off if it is greater than 4" as it could be a choke point for kids.

Reply:I have built miles of different railings. Watched the video, looks like you did a fine job. I do try to avoid rattle can finishes, as they seem the chalk up, and wear thin sooner. Spraying oil based enamels holds up the best in my experience. I have also used the Rustoleum hammertone in the quart cans. You can spray it can strength from a gravity feed gun with an 18 or 20 nozzle. It gives a thick coat and a lot more texture that way. The rustoleum oil based enamels spary out of the same gun, can strength, and flow out well that way too. For colors I have been using Dunn Edwards Syn-lustro enamel in the water clean up, and have been very happy with it.

Reply:Just dont misunderstand, the additional comments were to help you grow in finishing, the main point was, you did a fine job in layout, cutting, welding, squaring, and install. BTW, Powder coating is vastly over rated, cant be touched up easily, and is not friendly with pieces needing a field weld to install.
