Small combine repair

I picked up this 1968 Case 1160 combine last year to add to my collection. It is in pretty rough shape. It sat for several years and was worn out before that. I have a job to do with it this year so it is time to get it operating. Was a big job since most every moving part was rusted solid such as the shaft that holds the clutch throwout bearing. I could release the clutch, but the clutch didn't have enough strength to move it back. Had to take it apart and free it up. Also had to do the brake pivots and the separator clutches as well. Anyway as far as welding goes there will be quite a lot later as I get further along since there are a lot of wear through spots. This week I did the header pan that had rusted and worn through in a couple spots.I cut a bunch out and cut some patches out of a donor header. Reply:Here are the patches installed. They fit well and should work out good.I also removed the straight cut reel and sickle and added a pickup attachment because we cut the grain into windrows rather than straight cut. The pickup attachment came from the donor header. To mount that I had to extend the drive shaft and make a bearing carrier. It's all on and operational now, so I hope she holds together for the job. Reply:That is a cool old machine. Three weeks ago I did a bunch of hardfacing work on a 9130? Case IH with a 40 foot! header. Self leveling hillside machine to boot. Pretty amazing technology there.
