All,I've finished the fume extractor and it turned out fantastic! Works much better than expected. Here's a list of parts I used and some photos. I hope it helps.6" High Pressure Fan ($89 on Amazon). I'm told these fans are the best since they pull exhaust the best and they're able to push it out the best. Listed as about 530 CFM, which from the video's I've recorded of myself welding show is more than enough to drag the MIG fumes out from my Lincoln 210MP. I might even try some indoor stick welding soon. As far as noise, the welder is louder, so the fan setup was a huge success.http://www.tjernlund.com/ductboost.htm6" Duct work, Home Depot, $8 for a 5ft section. Purchase as needed. My run is about 25ft - 30ft, plus 9ft vertical.Misc. additional elbows, reducers, etc. Purchase as needed.4" or 6" flexible tubing. Mine is stainless steel, but anything metal will be fine to protect against sparks. I got this from HGRINC.com for $50, so good luck. I'm going to build a hood for the front of it and put a magnetic holder on it so I can run it to my table too. Please feel free to comment. Reply:Looks like it should do the trick man. Nice job! Is that inside the house by chance? If so beware of a negative air pull. You could have a hard time with chimneys, the one I'm more concerned with telling you would be a furnace and/or water heater b-vent style. Just a warning to you as I've seen big blowers do this kinda thing. Take care. -PidgeLincoln210mpHobart Handler 125...soldBoat battery and a couple coat hangers
Reply:Nice setup. I pulled a blower out of an old clothes dryer at the dump and am going to set it up like yours. I like the stainless hose, I think I'll use that for mine.My "collection":Homemade Stick WelderVictor O/A TorchAC 225Ideal Arc 250HF 90 Amp Flux CoreHF Mig 170Solar 2020 Plasma CutterPower i-Mig 140EHarris O/A torchHF Dual Mig 131140STAlpha Tig 200x
Reply:Thanks! It is not in the house, it's a shop, so we're still dealing with the negative pull, but it doesn't seem to be an issue so far. Winter is coming though.
Reply:josh-petroOh Boy: a smoke impacted fan in the attic - the Fire Marshall has 'never seen this one' . . .Opus

Reply:Great point! "That's not a fan, just ahh duct work". Smoke alarms in the attic will hopefully mitigate any concerns. Plus, this thing runs on a weekend for probably a few hours total, so I'm not concerned as much as I would be if it was a 40 hours a week deal. Someone on Amazon reviewed the fan and said they've run it for months on end in their attic with "no issues". Even I know that's not a good idea. We'll see how it goes.
