Bonding New metal to thin rusty metal

So in doing some patch panels on a truck door. I ran into a problem welding the metal to the inner rocker lip. The lip is so rusty I don't want to grind anymore cuz I worry about being too thin,  and I dint want to weld it because im not comfortable on stuff so thin. Is there an adhesive that will bond metal? Like liquid nails for metal? Lol. I'm in New Hampshire so it needs to hold up to all kinds of weather. Any input well help!Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Reply:Go talk to your local body shop, 99% of them don't weld panels in anymore. They have an adhesive that is made for replacing body panels.
Reply:You do need to get rid of the rust though or it will come through anything you put over it. You could try using a chemical rust remover.

Reply:I agree with SuperArc!You don't weld out rust!You cut it back to good material, then take the "Body Adhesive" and stick the patch in!I have watched the neighbor destroy body parts while the adhesive holds!OrIf you do get to good material, then you can go as planned and weld the new piece in!
