I'm working in a production facility that makes automotive part. Tig, 409 stainless,Miller machine, 12 cup w/gas lense. I'm trying to figure out how to reduce my burn through(graying). Due to the speed needs for production there's no time to put an argon backing on each piece. Im Putting brackets on 12-16 gauge tubing. Its proving to be a pain in the neck. When i run low amps it takes to long to puddle up and i burn through when i run high amps it almost immediately burns through.I tried setting my machine at 60 all the way up to 140. I'm doing decent but as I come off the bracket to join the puddle to the tube I always get a little Grey hot spot on the inside wall of the tube. It doesnt need to be fancy just three welds to secure the bracket w/no burn through. Any suggestions? Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Reply:More information is needed.Do you know which "miller machine" you are using? Does it have a pulser? If so, have you played around with settings for said pulser? Using pulse can help reduce the total heat input into the weld bead, which may help your situation. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:Yes it has a pulser. It's a maxstar 350. I'm new to miller machines and new to stainless. I haven't played around with it much. Only my second day working with it. I normally work with a Lincoln(that's nowhere as nice) on 1/4"-2" mild steel. Sent from my SGH-M919 using TapatalkLast edited by MjjR707; 06-09-2014 at 08:48 PM.
Reply:no guarantee that it will work for your situation, but it's worth a shot. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! HTP Invertig 400HTP Invertig 221HTP ProPulse 300HTP ProPulse 200 x2HTP ProPulse 220MTSHTP Inverarc 200TLP HTP Microcut 875SC

Reply:Pulse worked great thanksSent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Reply:Why not pay it forward to others and tell us what pulse settings you used that worked great? What pulse frequency & duty cycle? Welding/background amperages (or percents)? 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig!
