Reply:The 1", 2", or 3" cutters are all the same, just depends on the thickness of material you need to drill through. Blue Rock is Chinese same as the others. Have heard they are okay.  I bought a Hougen Rotabroach. For cutters I just bought the sizes I needed on ebay. I think up to 1" I didn't pay more than $25 for a cutter shipped. Be sure you get the right sized pilot pins. Also, be sure to order and use some sort of cutting fluid or stick lube.

Reply:I am selling a brand new Hougen in the for sale section. Take a look.
Reply:Not sure how many holes you have to drill, but they rent those locally as well...  I love owning nice tools, but I'm about out of storage space.--zip.

Reply:I bought a cheep one off ebay and it's working fine. I bought 1 inch depth of cut cutters and then decided that I needed to drill holes through 2x2 box tubing. Had to buy a set of 2 inch deep cutters. So it's not necessary one inch thick material you might drill but box tubing etc to make bushed holes for stuff. Just might save you from buying the wrong size.
Reply:Picked up my USA made Jancy slugcutter on Amazon for $700. Used Jancys for years on the job and never experienced a single glitch. I regularly use a 2" annular on this thing without any sweat. Very compact and powerful. The best out there...IMO...except for maybe Hougens. Maybe.I did purchase a chuck for regular bits... but like a dumbass I didn't realize the chuck's length requires using short drill bits in order to make it usable. Expensive phuckers...so I cut a bunch of long standard bits down. Never really use the chuck much, though. Reply:I have one for sale but it's missing the magnet the 3 lever handle so you will need to order some parts.    But the drill itself is good. Jm800 I think it's model. $100 plus shipping.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:looks like a copy of the Magtron I have, only with out the high and low shift and variable speed.
Reply:I have a Milwaukee, it's a beast and has been great. I needed one, but once I had it, I find I use it for far more than I expected. It get's used more than weekly.  I also use the Milwaukee 2" anular cutters. I got them for around $300 for a set of 8 or 9. They are very good cutters. Country of origin is Germany on the cuttersRegards,RobGreat Basin WeldingInstagramBlue weldersRed weldersMy luscious Table DIY TIG Torch cooler
Reply:For that price you can buy one of the preferred brands like Hougen.  It wont be reversible but there are all kinds of accessories available.
Reply:I had never used one before today and never really thought much of themI told the owner he has to stop letting me use new stuff because now I want a mag drill. He said I could borrow his anytime I wanted but after I now see what this tool has to offer me one is coming soon. This is not an item I would cheap out on and would almost demand a speed change........ and power feed.
Reply:I bought a used hougen for $400 with variable speed and luber, look used , buy a proven drill

Reply:Buy a name brand unless real cheap.Jancy was my choice but Fein chsnged them dont know if ok. Nitto expensive and have to use their cutters .Milwaukee same. New Hougen with swivel base is great for side drilling .Water is fine for coolant too.
Reply:Actually my Milwaukee uses the standard 3/4" chuck. It does have a #3 morse taper and with that you can fit a host of chucks. It's been quite nice.Regards,RobGreat Basin WeldingInstagramBlue weldersRed weldersMy luscious Table DIY TIG Torch cooler

Reply:I like that idea!  Thanks for posting the vid.
Reply:Hougen, Jancy or Millwaukee will make holes until you die and then make holes for your Kids and Grandkids and maybe their Grandkids too.Annular cutters are the ticket "if" the reach of the drill motor works, if not then traditional twist drills in a Millwaukee is mo better. You can sometimes make a plate to use annular in odd situations, not always tho.A big conventional reversable Millwualkee will tap holes nicely. It depends on what you need. Don't know nor wanna know about the china models. And yes, I know that I don't know how to spell Millwaukee : )J
Reply:Anyone know of a maker of 16mm annular cutters with a 3" depth of cut?  All the ones that I've found so far are only 1" or 2" depth.
Reply:Need to be exactly 16mm, or will 5/8ths work? Reply:@ RSD - in reviewing the literature from 3 of the top-tier mag drill manufacturers (Jancy, Hougen, CS Unitec), the DOC-to-cutter diameter ranges are fairly consistent.  CS Unitec (Germany) bands their annular cutters as follows:1" DOC, 7/16" to 5-1/8" cutter dia., 3/4" shank2" DOC, 7/16" to 5-1/8" cutter dia., 3/4" shank3" DOC, 3/4" to 5-1/8" cutter dia., 1-1/4" shankYour requirement for a 16mm (~ 5/8") DOC @ 3" cut depth is most likely not an off-the-shelf option.  If you have the juice and want the cadillac of mag drills, explore CS Unitec.  As slob stated, contact Jancy......plus Hougen (Michigan) and CS Unitec and drill down to the core answer."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:I work in a structural steel shop, and we use mag drills all day long.  I've looked at cheap mag drills for my side business, but I can't bring myself to purchasing one.  We had a guy last week who got whooped pretty good with a mag drill, but it was his own fault.  I have seen the magnets go bad and the drill fall off the material you are drilling.  Mag drills can be violent when they fail.  I realize that sometimes you do not have the funds and have to settle, but I would not settle for a cheap mag drill.
