The folks who made this really screwed it up ..It was a flawed design to begin with and should have been made of 1/2 inch instead of the 1/4 they used...Note the cutout and patch over where they tried to space it away for the feeder chains It's not just the fact that of when the trucks dump their load in it it bends and causes it to rub on the feeder chains in the hopperThe jaw hitches on the trucks hit the front causing it to bend the other wayI straightened it as best i could working with my mobile press and vise and used an entire tank of acetylene heating and beating and trying to shrink it but it's just to messed up and ...Now he has changed his mind again for the third time and want me to make a new one from 1/2 plate ...The extreme dimensions of the part is 1 ft X 7/12 inch X 6 ft 6 inch   not including the side mounting tabsPics of the partBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Now keep in mind this guy let his crew / operator wear out not just the cutting edge of the gannon on his JD 210 loader but there no bolt holes left on the right hand side of it and the one on the left is less than half there So i am making a new moldboard from 1/2 X 4 A-36 and re squaring it and dropping the new mount holes 1/2 inch to prevent me from a bunch of work cutting a wedge to re square the original moldboard ...Then re doing the gussets that re enforced the moldboard since they have also been ground awayThen re making the box sides since they are worn beyond the inserts that should have been re placed with the cutting edge He balked at the cost of 1/2 A-36 the ask me about doing it with AR plate ....When i told him what the material would cost doing it in AR 400 i thought he was going to croak ...HA HA ...IDIOTHell he thinks that the 500.00 bucks i'm charging to do the box scraper is excessiveHe actually asked if it included the cost of making the new part for the asphalt spreader.....AHHHHH......NOLast edited by killdozerd11; 08-07-2014 at 06:02 PM.Backed my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Isn't that always true Bob ...People don't take care of things like that then get mad because it is now a major repair...and it has a major cost to get it doneWhen i first looked at it i told him for about a grand you can buy another used gannon ...In fact i was looking at a flail mower and he also had a good used gannon just like his but needed a new cylinder for the ripper bar as someone had taken the one that was on it ....Hell he only wanted 500.00 for itI just gave it a cursory look as i was not interested in it but it's long gone now at that priceBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:My favorite line from these clowns is I'm paying cash. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I don't accept goats, chickens, green stamps or anything other than cash . Had a contractor question my price on a small job, (200 bucks), and I told him how can you charge 75 bucks an hour for a job that requires just a few hand tools then whine about paying 50 an hour to fix his crap. Reminds me of this dude I know with a junkyard. Guy comes in for a Cadillac taillight, after telling the guy 50 bucks the guy whines about the price. Dude smashes the light on the counter and says you don't deserve the Fing thing and to leave and not come back.
Reply:It seems like the ones who can afford the most are the cheapest. A good one for the guys you don't want to work for is to ask for a deposit about 2or 3 times the cost then tell him you will be happy to refund the difference in price.
Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749Yeah, five goats and two chickens should cover that hard facing job... AR steel will cost you an additional three bulls and two dozen bushels of corn Awesome story about the junkyard. Bet the light was like $300 retail. Dude was getting a deal and still wanted it for nothing.. Wish I coulda been there for that I did some work years ago for a very wealthy property management company who was a major franchiser for Yum Brands. They own all the Taco Bell and KFC restaurants in the Lansing and surrounding Brighton area. These guys were the cheapest ppl you could ever imagine. Literally wanted to pay for ONLY the time the arc was lit. No travel time, no minimums just the time you were there and even then, their maintenance manager made it sound like it was coming out of his pocket. Then, after all that BS, they say- "Well, here's our address, bill us, we'll cut you a check within sixty days!" Sure, I can go for that if they're regularly calling me, but it was like once every four/eight months and after the first job, the rest were under two hours and their maintenance man just bitched to high heaven about every penny of it.After the first time that happened, I told their rinky dink maintenance dude that they were gonna have to pay cash for anything under $200. Guy looks at me like I'm crazy. I say "Don't you have a petty cash account for repairs and stuff?" Again, looks at me like I'm crazy. He ended up begrudgingly giving me a personal check because he had no access to petty cash and I didn't have a credit card machine in my back pocket. All this for a $45 charge. Again dude just bitched, and bitched, and bitched about having to write me a check for $45 bux the entire time I was dragging up. Needless to say, they didn't call me back. Funny as hell how a multi million dollar property management company with over a dozen franchises in one of the most expensive companies to franchise with would be that pathetically tight. I saw some of their stainless junk in my buddies shop awhile back, I asked him if it was theirs. He rolled his eyes and said, yeah... I'll make sure I'm too busy to work for them if they ever happened to call me back

Reply:Yeah on the subject of people being cheap. Had a guy at my day job ask me "Hey how much would you charge me to weld the bracket on the exhaust on my car?"I do calculations in my head. 1. Its a car, price goes up. 2. Exhaust on car, price goes up. 3. He asked, price goes up. "75 dollars", I replied. He looked shocked and asked "Why so much, the muffler shop only wants 10 bucks." I shrugged and walked away. Life's too short for me to be wallowing on the ground under you sedan tacking the friggin' muffler hanger. Ranger 250 GXTSmith Gas Axe

If that individual had such a little amount of respect for you, you would have less for yourself doing the job.IMHO of course
